Welcome

2021 Holiday Season Note From Peggy

Dear Choir,

Happy Holidays! I don’t know about you, but the season for me is not complete without our Holiday Concert at the Libby Gardner Concert Hall.

I miss the 12 weeks of rehearsals with you. We know how to stand shoulder to shoulder and work hard for the love of our community. We know how to laugh together. We know how to support and love each other. And we know how to sing. Oh, do we know how to sing!

Could anyone question our love of music? Never!

I miss seeing the excitement in each of your faces as you walk onto the stage. I miss seeing the joy in your eyes as you sing, and the joy and appreciation of the audience as they hear you sing. We’ve had the opportunity for the last two years to feel what it’s like to be without each other; without all of that joy and music and excitement, and it’s a profound loss.

The experience that we share together as a choir is one of the treasures of my life, and I have a deeper appreciation of that treasure and what we have accomplished together in the past because of our inability to do so this year and last.

But I’m excited for 2022! And so is the SLACC Board. We are hopeful that once again we will be able to be together as a choir and make our beautiful music to share with our families, our friends, and the community.

Maybe 2022 will include a Spring Concert if health concerns improve quickly, and if so, we will be together again sooner than expected. And then it won’t be so hard to wait for our beloved Holiday Concert.

Choir, you have my heart and my wish for truly warm and happy holidays for each of you!

With love,
Peggy

Please enjoy this wonderful new music and album from our dear friend and choir member Sonja Brown.

2020 Choir Season Cancelled

The Avenues Choir is confirming that the 2020 choir season has been canceled. Ongoing public health concerns during the coronavirus pandemic prevent us from gathering safely to rehearse, sing, and perform. There will not be rehearsals starting in September or a public concert in December. Rest assured there are still exciting things planned for our community choir. We are ever grateful for the consistent support of members, singers, musicians, and the community who support this neighborhood institution. Thank you!

Rehearsals have begun

The fall rehearsal block for 2019 has now begun. The Avenues Choir is rehearsing for the holiday concert on December 19th every Thursday from 7-9 pm at the meetinghouse on 4th Ave and P Street. It’s not too late to join! Simply come to rehearsal or reach out to avenueschoir@gmail.com for more info.

Memorial Day Concert Cancelled

The Salt Lake Avenues Community Choir regrets to inform you that the spring Memorial Day Concert planned for May 7th has been cancelled. In the end, the choir did not have enough people sign up to make a balanced choir. We appreciate everyone who signed up and we will try again next year. Rehearsals for the 2019 Holiday Concert will begin as scheduled this September. More information will be posted this summer. Thank you for your continued support of the Avenues Choir!
